AJW appoints Martyn Haines as Technical Director

28 Nov 2017

AJW Group, a world-leading independent specialist in the global management of aircraft spares, has appointed Martyn Haines as Technical Director. Haines will take up the new role in November 2017.

Haines will be responsible for technical standards and best practices across all divisions of the business, focusing on driving performance and continuous improvement of its supply chains and innovative solutions to airline MRO challenges.

With over 39 years’ experience in the aviation industry, Haines has an extensive background in aircraft leasing, MRO and airline operations. He joins AJW from Kenya Airways where he was Technical Director, responsible for the delivery of a cost effective operation for their fleet of circa 40 Boeing 737, 777, 787, and Embraer E190 aircraft and associated MRO facilities.

Prior to that, he held several senior engineering and technical management roles at Virgin Atlantic Airways, including General Manager Engineering Services, General Manager Continuing Airworthiness, Fleet Technical Manager and Head of Maintenance Planning and Programmes. Within these roles he had full accountability for business areas including fleet technical and performance, propulsion, design, reliability, supply chain management, inventory and material planning, repairs, warranty and maintenance.

Haines will report directly to Gavin Simmonds, Chief Operating Officer of AJW Group, and will be based at the company’s headquarters in the UK.

As a company we are constantly evolving to better support the airlines’ entire engineering and maintenance value chain.”

Martyn Haines said:

“This is an exciting and challenging role which I am looking forward to delivering on in order to continuously drive improvements and greater value and efficiencies for our customers. AJW already has talented repair, technical and customer services teams in place, and I feel privileged to lead them.”
