In a recent feature for their MRO Americas 2024 supplement, Airliner World cast a spotlight on AJW Technique. Delving into the capabilities of the 220,000sq ft MRO facility, they interview Louis Mallette, SVP Operations, about AJW Technique’s work in the provision and repair of aircraft components.
Located in Montreal, one of the top three aerospace capitals of the world, AJW Technique is an expansive MRO facility operating as part of AJW Group, which has its headquarters in Slinfold, UK. Established in 2012, AJW Technique offer extensive services for aircraft for all major commercial and business jet platforms, including Airbus, Boeing, Bombardier, Embraer, and ATR, specialising in supporting the latest generation of Airbus and Boeing aircraft.
Looking to discover more about the company, Airliner World discusses AJW Technique’s capabilities. The facility has the ability to process 35,000 units per year across 6,000 separate part number lines, backed by 450,000 line items of exchange ready inventory valued at over US$500m. Key repair services include power generation, avionics, pneumatics, hydraulics, fuel components, instruments, galley equipment, IDG, electromechanical, oxygen, and lighting.
AJW Group recently entered the Airbus A350 support market with the acquisition of a significant package of spare parts, and AJWT will be providing support to ensure efficient maintenance operations across the Group’s expanding A350 customer base.
When it comes to sustainability, AJW Technique is vital in supporting AJW Group’s commitment to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC). In Montreal, virtually 100% of electricity is generated from renewable sources (primarily hydro power), making it the ideal location for Technique’s energy-intensive activities. Even so, the company has taken further steps to reduce its environmental impact, including a full retrofit of lighting, replacing oversized air compressors and switching to environmentally friendly aqueous cleaning solutions.
AJW Technique’s SVP Operations, Louis Mallette says, “The importance of industry collaboration cannot be overstated, as it not only fosters the vitality of the industry but also safeguards the health of our planet. Remaining economically viable in the MRO industry necessitates maintaining a commitment to sustainable practices. Driven by industry regulations and a demand for eco-friendly aviation solutions from customers, airlines are increasingly turning to MRO partners like AJW Technique, who offer various sustainable solutions while adhering to rigorous environmental standards.”
“The shift towards sustainability goes beyond regulatory compliance; it also serves to enhance the corporate social responsibility profile of the MRO sector,” Mallette concludes.
Finally, Airliner World observes that AJW Technique adheres rigorously to regulatory standards in the repair of aeronautical components, ensuring strict compliance with OEM criteria. This highlights the need for cross-industry collaboration among regulators, OEMs, and repair providers to maximise opportunities for repair and re-use while facilitating the efficient recycling and disposal of parts and materials.
