AJW Group has welcomed 64 students from local schools this year as part of its ongoing work experience programme, giving young people a unique insight into the diverse career opportunities available within the aviation industry and beyond.
Students from Tanbridge House School, The College of Richard Collyer (Collyer's), Millais School, The Weald School, Harrodian School, Brighton College, as well as several individual placements, have taken part in week-long workshops hosted at AJW's headquarters in Slinfold, West Sussex.
Designed to provide meaningful, hands-on workplace experience, the programme introduces students to a broad range of careers across the business. While aviation engineering and technical operations remain a key focus, participants are also exposed to opportunities in departments including Marketing, Procurement, Human Resources, Project Management, Finance, Health & Safety, Security, Warehousing, and Engine Operations, helping them understand the wide variety of professional pathways available within a global aviation organisation.
Throughout the week, students attend interactive workshops and presentations delivered by colleagues from across the business. On their first day, each student is assigned a project and provided with the IT equipment and resources required to complete it. They then spend the week developing their knowledge, building practical workplace skills, and applying what they have learned before presenting their final project to colleagues at the end of the placement.
The initiative forms part of AJW Group's wider commitment to supporting local education, strengthening links with the community, and helping young people make informed decisions about their future careers.

"Hosting work experience students has been an incredibly rewarding experience," said Brooke Underwood, Talent Partner at AJW Group.
"While it's a busy time, every moment is worth it when you see the confidence, skills, and aspirations that develop throughout their placement. The trust and bond that I built with each student really stood out to me and is something I'll always remember.
"I was genuinely overwhelmed by the kind feedback, thank you messages and appreciation from the students themselves. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and willingness to learn were truly inspiring, and it was a privilege to support them on their journey and make a positive impact on their future ambition."
AJW's work experience programme is designed not only to encourage the next generation of aviation professionals but also to challenge common perceptions about the industry by highlighting the many specialist and business support functions that are essential to a successful global organisation. By providing opportunities for students to interact directly with employees across multiple disciplines, AJW aims to broaden horizons and demonstrate the wide range of careers available both within aviation and the wider business world.
Clyde Buntrock, Chief Executive Officer, AJW Aviation, said: "Investing in young people is investing in the future of our industry and our community. Through our work experience programme, we are proud to give students valuable exposure to the workplace, help them develop new skills and confidence, and showcase the many career paths available within AJW. We hope these experiences inspire participants as they consider their future education and employment opportunities, and we look forward to continuing our partnerships with local schools for many years to come."
As an employer committed to developing talent at every stage of the career journey, AJW Group continues to invest in apprenticeship, graduate and professional development opportunities, creating pathways for future talent while supporting the communities in which it operates.
