An optimistic outlook despite looming industry headwinds is the title for the Outlook 2023 article from AviTrader MRO.
In the December issue of AviTrader MRO, editor Keith Mwanalushi speaks to several MROs to discuss their outlook for MRO as we move into 2023. The consensus is of upbeat optimism despite the aftermath of the pandemic, the ongoing global challenges of labour shortages, and geopolitical issues in Europe.
The article asks industry leaders such as AJW Aviation CEO, Clyde Buntrock, about his opinions on post pandemic opportunities in the industry. Buntrock says the group maintains an optimistic view on 2023 especially relating to the growing demand for aircraft interior refurbishment, he says,
“With a renewed interest in travel, airlines are looking to upgrade existing fleets while still recovering from financial losses due to the pandemic. They are looking closely at their bottom line and using MRO services to entice customers with fresh-looking aircraft interiors.”
He goes on to say that AJW group sees strength in the commercial aircraft maintenance and services it offers to its global customer base through its expanding regional support hubs.
The article continues with insightful opinions on the cost challenges faced by global aviation relating to engine and component cost per flight hour agreements. This is asked in the face of a strengthening US dollar which is causing higher maintenance costs for airlines, which in turn influences the MRO and aftermarket services offered by companies such as AJW.
AviTrader also gets answers to the question of whether the pending recession and the supply chain fracture are impacting the MRO and aftermarket sectors’ support of narrowbody aircraft services.
AJW CEO Clyde Buntrock holds the opinion shared by others interviewed when he says,
“Aftermarket sales in the aviation industry are increasing and there are still maintenance schedules to be maintained for existing fleets, so it is business as usual for companies like AJW who offer MRO services.”
